Conference in British Parliament sparks hope for Yasin Malik and other prisoners on International Human Rights Day
London Luton (Report by Shiraz Khan):
On December 10, in observance of International Human Rights Day, a conference will be held in the British Parliament on Yasin Malik and other prisoners. Additionally, on February 11, 2025, marking the 40th anniversary of Maqbool Bhat’s martyrdom, Kashmiris will stage a protest outside the Indian High Commission, demanding the return of his remains.
A significant meeting of the Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) UK was held, attended by the central and zonal leadership of the JKLF UK. During the meeting, it was decided that the Indian government has appealed for the death penalty in Yasin Malik’s case. The life imprisonment previously imposed was already a one-sided verdict under the influence of the Indian government. Therefore, it is the heavy responsibility of international organizations and those who left the Kashmir issue unresolved to protect the people of Jammu and Kashmir and their globally recognized leadership from political revenge by the state.
British Members of Parliament, intellectuals, and human rights advocates will attend and speak at the December 10 seminar. Furthermore, the meeting resolved to hold a massive protest outside the Indian Embassy in London on February 11, the 40th anniversary of Maqbool Bhat’s martyrdom. Various political and social organizations from Jammu and Kashmir will also be invited to participate.
The meeting was attended by President Liaqat Lone and key organizational officials, including Professor Zafar Khan, Sabir Gul, Sardar Naseem Iqbal, Chaudhry Yousuf, Jameel Ashraf, Malik Latif, Haji Rasib Kashmiri, Tanveer Malik, Gulfraz Khan, Asghar Ali, Hafeez Khan, Yasir Naveed, Aftab Chacha, S.I. Ibrahim, Raja Mehrban, Javed Tahir, Khawaja Parvez, Rehmat Hussain, Raja Naseer, Sufi Sikandar, Sardar Mushtaq, Muhammad Ali, and Raja Raees.
