“A grim tally of road mishaps has beset the province of Punjab, leaving a trail of devastation in its wake. In a mere 24 hours, a staggering 1,271 accidents have claimed the lives of 14 individuals, while 1,401 others have suffered injuries.
The rescue efforts have been tireless, with 624 critically injured persons rushed to hospitals for urgent medical attention, while 777 others received on-site treatment for minor injuries. A closer examination of the data reveals a startling breakdown: 778 drivers, 40 underage drivers, 172 pedestrians, and 465 passengers have fallen victim to these road catastrophes.
Lahore has emerged as the epicenter of these accidents, with a staggering 275 incidents reported, affecting 309 individuals. Faisalabad and Multan follow closely, with 104 and 91 accidents, respectively.
The vehicles involved in these mishaps paint a sobering picture: 1,169 motorbikes, 64 auto-rickshaws, 127 motorcars, 29 vans, eight passenger buses, 30 trucks, and 82 other vehicles and slow-moving carts have been implicated in these tragic events.
