Data crucial for every single step of governance ensuring better climate change, DRR management

Islamabad:  In a clarion call for data-driven governance, Prime Minister’s Coordinator for Climate Change, Romina Khurshid Alam, emphasized the crucial role of data in addressing climate change, disaster risk reduction, and achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Addressing the inaugural “Data for Development” (D4D) policy dialogue, Alam stressed the need for a digital dashboard to ensure a unified approach to climate change mitigation and adaptation. She highlighted the importance of collaborations, data credibility, and inclusivity, particularly for vulnerable populations.

The D4D initiative, jointly organized by the Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI) and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), brought together experts and officials to discuss the pivotal role of data in driving sustainable development.

Speakers underscored the need for data-driven decision making, capacity building, and international best practices to address Pakistan’s growing climate vulnerability. The event marked a significant step towards harnessing the power of data for a prosperous and sustainable future.
