Strengthening Educational Ties between Pakistan and Türkiye
Minister of State for Federal Education and Turkish Ambassador Visit RWU's Advanced Zoology Lab
Rawalpindi: Ms. Wajiha Qamar, Minister of State for Federal Education & Professional Training, along with H.E. Dr. Irfan Naziroğlu, Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to Pakistan, visited the newly established State-of-the-Art Zoology Laboratory at Rawalpindi Women University (RWU). The advanced facility has been developed with the support of the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA).
The distinguished guests were warmly welcomed by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Anila Kamal, who provided an overview of the university’s vision and the significance of the new laboratory in enhancing the academic and research environment.
During the visit, Ms. Wajiha Qamar expressed her appreciation for the high-tech laboratory, stating, “This modern facility will be a cornerstone for advancing research in life sciences and will benefit both students and faculty at Rawalpindi Women University.” She emphasized the importance of international collaboration in improving the quality of higher education in Pakistan.
H.E. Dr. Irfan Naziroğlu highlighted the strong historical ties and friendship between Pakistan and Türkiye. “TIKA is a flagship development organization of Türkiye and has been actively operating in Pakistan for the past 15 years. We have proudly completed over 700 projects across various sectors,” he said. He reaffirmed Türkiye’s continued support for Pakistan and encouraged students to explore postgraduate opportunities in Türkiye. He also noted that a delegation from Türkiye’s higher education sector is currently visiting Pakistan to further academic cooperation.
Prof. Dr. Anila Kamal thanked TIKA for its generous support, stating that the lab marks a significant step in transforming RWU into a hub for research and innovation. “This facility stands as a symbol of growing academic collaboration between Türkiye and Pakistan, paving the way for future partnerships,” she added.
Ms. Saliha Tuna, Head of TIKA Pakistan, also addressed the gathering and reiterated TIKA’s commitment to supporting future educational initiatives in Pakistan.
Students from the Department of Zoology expressed their gratitude to TIKA and shared their experiences of working in the newly equipped lab. Notably, this is the first and only fully equipped, state-of-the-art laboratory in Pakistan dedicated to Zoological Histology.
