Kidnapped by Deception: Khalilur Rehman Qamar’s Harrowing Ordeal
Lahore:Renowned screenwriter Khalilur Rehman Qamar has revealed the shocking details of his kidnapping, torture, and looting in Lahore. The incident, which occurred on July 15, has sent shockwaves through the entertainment industry.
Qamar, known for his hit dramas like “Meray Paas Tum Ho” and “Pyarey Afzal,” was lured into a trap by a woman named Amna Urooj, who claimed to be a fan and wanted to collaborate on a TV drama. Despite his doctor’s advice to avoid daytime outings due to health issues, Qamar agreed to meet her at 4:40 am, citing his medical condition.
However, upon arrival, he was ambushed by seven armed men, who seized his valuables, including cash, phone, and identity card, and withdrew over Rs200,000 from his bank account. The kidnappers demanded a ransom of Rs10 million, threatening to kill him.
During a press conference, Qamar recounted his terrifying experience, denying claims that he had exchanged text messages and pictures with Urooj. He also sparked controversy by shaming women in showbiz, saying he was unfazed by their revealing clothes and behavior.
Ironically, a 2019 interview resurfaced, where Qamar mockingly suggested that women should kidnap men to achieve equality. The press conference descended into chaos, with reporters questioning him about the connection between his past statements and the kidnapping incident.
The incident has raised questions about Qamar’s controversial views on women and his own vulnerability to deception. As the investigation unfolds, the entertainment industry remains shaken by the ordeal of one of its most prominent figures.
