Police Martyrs Day observed in Tank
TANK:Like rest of the country, the Police Yaum-e-Shuhada (Martyrs Day) was also observed in Tank on Sunday to pay homage and tribute to the sacrifices rendered by the policemen.
The main ceremony, in this regard was held here at DRC Hall of District Police Office which was attended by District Police Officer (DPO) Abdul Salam Khalid, officers of security forces, Assistant Commissioner Tank Shaukat Iqbal, DSP Headquarters Gul Wali Khan, DSP City Saleem Khan, DSP Rural Shahjahan Khan, DSP Sub Division Jandola Syed Marjan Khan, SHOs and other police officers, heirs/children of martyrs, local dignitaries, Social workers, media persons and school children.
Prayers were offered for elevation of martyrs’ ranks in the ceremony. The school children paid tribute to the martyrs by singing national anthems and delivering speeches.
Addressing the ceremony, the speakers said that the martyrs were the pride of the nation as they sacrificed their today for the tomorrow of their countrymen.
They said the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police have played a frontline role in the war against terrorism. They added that from the top officers to the soldiers of the police rendered their lives for the motherland.
The blood of all the martyred soldiers was a debt to the soil of this country which could never be taken off, the speakers said.
Thousands of policemen were martyred in the war against terrorism but the morale of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police was still high. Speaking on this occasion, DPO Tank Abdul Salam Khalid said, “We can feel the grief of the martyrs’ families but we believe that the Almighty has blessed the martyrs with high ranks”. He said that the state was not the name of a country but a faith, adding, we are loyal to our state.
He said no mercy would be given to those ‘Khawarij’ who have no religion or faith and involved in killing the innocent Muslims. The DPO said the ‘Khawarij’ and miscreants would be defeated through national unity. The KP police will never hesitate to make any sacrifice for motherland, he added. “Our doors are always open for the families of martyrs and they will never be left alone,” he assured.
On this occasion, the slogans of “Pakistan Zindabad” and “Police Martyrs Zindabad” were chanted. Later, all the officers from Tank police and security forces distributed gifts, prizes and certificates among the children of the martyrs and the best performing school children.
At the end of the ceremony, prayers were offered for the elevation of the ranks of the police martyrs, the patience of their families, the security and prosperity of the country and the establishment of peace.
