PDMA Punjab issues new rain alert

LAHORE :The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab on Tuesday issued an alert for more monsoon rains across the province.
According to PDMA Punjab, the new spell of monsoon rains will begin in the evening of August 14. Monsoon rains are expected in Punjab from August 14 to 18. From August 15 to 18, most districts in South Punjab are likely to experience wind and thundershowers. Monsoon rains are anticipated in Lahore, Gujranwala, Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Bahawalpur, Faisalabad, Sahiwal, and Gujarat divisions.
DG PDMA Irfan Ali Kathia said that an alert has been issued to the relevant administrations across the province regarding the weather situation. “In view of the directives of the Chief Minister of Punjab, the departments should be on alert. Given the possibility of urban flooding, the administration should complete advance arrangements,” he added.
The DG PDMA also issued instructions to Commissioners, DCs, WASA, Irrigation Department, Rescue, Civil Defense, and other concerned departments to remain alert. He further mentioned that the situation is being monitored 24 hours a day in the PDMA control room. “The people are requested to ensure the implementation of government instructions. In case of emergency, call the PDMA helpline at 1129,” he added.
