Islamabad:In a landmark moment, the Sustainable Social Development Organization (SSDO) and the National Commission on the Rights of Child (NCRC) launched a pioneering report, “Hamari Kahani, Hamara Mustaqbil,” shedding light on the long-standing menstruation taboos affecting adolescent girls in District Rawalpindi, Pakistan.

The report, a culmination of rigorous research, exposes the knowledge gaps, cultural myths, and restrictive practices that have long plagued girls during their menstrual cycles. It highlights the need for targeted interventions and policy reforms to empower girls with accurate knowledge and confidence.

At the launch event, experts and officials convened to discuss the report’s findings and strategize ways to break down cultural barriers and improve menstrual health education. Senator Ayesha Raza Farooq, Chairperson NCRC, emphasized the importance of creating an environment where open dialogue replaces shame, enabling girls to embrace their menstrual health with pride.

This groundbreaking study marks the beginning of a series of collaborations between SSDO and NCRC aimed at addressing critical issues affecting children and shaping future policies and programs. Together, they seek to create a brighter, more informed future for Pakistan’s youth.
