ISLAMABAD,In a groundbreaking achievement, Pakistan has become the first country in South Asia to conduct a digital census, setting a new standard for data collection and analysis in the region. The “Key Findings Report” of the census, unveiled by Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives, Professor Ahsan Iqbal, reveals a treasure trove of data that will shape the country’s development trajectory and inform effective disaster response strategies.

The report, compiled by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), provides a comprehensive snapshot of Pakistan’s population, urban and rural landscapes, and economic indicators. With a total population of 241.49 million, Pakistan ranks as the 5th most populous country globally, with Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar, Quetta, and Islamabad emerging as the most populous cities.

Ahsan Iqbal hailed the achievement as a testament to Pakistan’s capabilities, emphasizing the need for continued progress and development to remain competitive globally. He stressed the importance of peace, political stability, and fundamental reforms to drive national growth and prosperity.
