Islamabad: The Women’s Parliamentary Caucus of the National Assembly of Pakistan held its Fifth General Assembly meeting at the Conference Room, WPC, Parliament House, Islamabad.
The Women’s Parliamentary Caucus (WPC) of the National Assembly of Pakistan convened its Fifth General Assembly meeting. This significant session was dedicated to vital discussions surrounding breast cancer awareness, the upcoming “Sixteen Days of Activism” campaign, and a range of ongoing and future activities aimed at promoting women’s health and rights.
During the meeting, members underscored the critical need for raising awareness about breast cancer, emphasizing that early detection and preventive measures are essential in combating this pressing health issue. The WPC is committed to enhancing public knowledge and encouraging proactive health practices among women across Pakistan. Additionally, the Secretary of the WPC announced that the General Assembly will conduct a visit to PIMS (Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences) to further support health initiatives.
Preparations for the “Sixteen Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence,” which runs from November 25 to December 10, were also a focal point of discussions. This international campaign aims to raise awareness about violence against women and girls, linking it to broader human rights issues.
The WPC plans to engage in various activities during this period, including educational outreach, community dialogues, and legislative advocacy to strengthen protections for women. The campaign will highlight significant dates such as International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women on November 25 and International Human Rights Day on December 10.
The General Assembly of the WPC outlined future initiatives aimed at furthering women’s rights and health advocacy, ensuring these critical issues remain at the forefront of national discourse. By fostering a supportive environment for women in Pakistan, the WPC aims to empower them to take charge of their health and advocate for their rights effectively.
