Ahsan Iqbal Spearheads CPEC Progress, Eyes Timely Completion of Phase 2.0 Projects

ISLAMABAD: In a significant move to revitalize the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives Professor Ahsan Iqbal chaired a high-level meeting to review the implementation status of CPEC-related decisions, following Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s recent visit to China.

Ahsan Iqbal emphasized the complete agreement between Chinese and Pakistani leadership on CPEC 2.0, stressing the strategic implementation of decisions to ensure its success. He highlighted Pakistan’s strategic geographical position, urging the Ministry of Railways to expedite documentation for the ML1 project. Ahsan Iqbal announced an early meeting of the Joint Financing Committee within a month, emphasizing full preparation by relevant departments.

The minister called for a collaborative effort from all ministries and institutions to complete CPEC projects, stressing the need for a comprehensive master plan for road construction across the region. He envisioned CPEC as a pivotal connector of the entire region, driving global economic growth.
