Anti-Dengue SOPs Must Be Fully Implemented: Former MNA Haji Pervaiz
RAWALPINDI: The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has stepped up its efforts to combat dengue fever by implementing comprehensive prevention strategies. In this regard a crucial meeting led by former MNA Haji Pervaiz, the Coordinator of Anti-Dengue and Vice President of Pakistan Muslim League-N Rawalpindi District held today in RDA Conference room.
With the current season posing a heightened risk for the growth and spread of dengue larvae, Haji Pervaiz emphasized the urgent need for the full implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to prevent the virus’s proliferation. He stressed, “Countermeasures must be intensified, and there should be no reduction in efforts to ensure public safety.”
Since October 1, 2024 the RDA has taken significant actions against non-compliance, sealing 57 under-construction buildings that violated anti-dengue regulations. Haji Pervaiz called for increased surveillance to identify potential breeding sites for dengue larvae, urging all stakeholders to remain vigilant.
During the meeting, Assistant Director of Building Control and Dengue Focal Person, Muhammad Dawood, provided an in-depth briefing on the ongoing anti-dengue initiatives. He confirmed that, under the guidance of the Director General Kinza Murtaza, strict adherence to dengue SOPs is being enforced, with strict actions taken against negligent people by sealing their under construction homes.
Haji Pervaiz also urged residents of approved private housing schemes including Faisal Town, Top City, Mumtaz City, University Town, and Gandhara City to actively participate in preventive measures. He highlighted the importance of maintaining clean water catchment areas and conducting public awareness campaigns, which are essential not only for dengue prevention but also for the overall improvement of public health.
The meeting was attended by key officials, including Director Admin and Finance Asif Mahmood Janjua, Deputy Director Finance Muhammad Junaid Taj Bhatti, other RDA officer alongside registered users of the private housing schemes.
