Artists Unite: Asma Butt Calls for End to Bureaucracy and Political Interference in Arts Councils

Islamabad : Well-known drama producer and director Asma Butt has said that she will not tolerate any political interference in Arts Councils, Arts Councils are for artists, they will be freed from bureaucracy, if artists cannot organize programs in Arts Councils, then How can political people do barbeque parties and ghazal nights there? The money earned from programs in arts councils should be spent on the improvement of arts councils and the welfare of artists. They will protest outside the arts council against political interference in Rawalpindi arts council. No artists will participate in Arts Council rallies on the occasion of August.

On this occasion, senior artists Zulqarnain Haider, Sheba Butt, Anjum Habibi, Aslam Mughal, Tahir Mughal and others fully supported Asma Butt and said that Asma Butt’s services for artists are unforgettable. Removal from Mangemeet committee is a sad matter, Punjab government should appoint Asma Butt as the chairperson of the committee, On the occasion of the press conference, the artists said that if our demands are not accepted, they will be forced to protest outside the Rawalpindi Arts Council.
