ISLAMABAD,In a bid to empower beneficiaries and their families, Senator Rubina Khalid, Chairperson of the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), has called for the introduction of a high-quality skill training program aligned with international standards. This initiative aims to equip families with the skills necessary to graduate from poverty and contribute meaningfully to the national economy.

During a meeting with a delegation from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) at the BISP Headquarters, Senator Khalid emphasized the need for human resource development, focusing on in-demand skills such as healthcare and hospitality management. By acquiring these skills, beneficiaries can access employment opportunities abroad, enhancing their socio-economic prospects.

The ADB delegation, led by Sofia Shakil, Director of Human and Social Development, praised BISP’s institutionalized mechanisms and expressed commitment to expanding support in education, health, and nutrition, particularly at the provincial level.

This development marks a significant step towards poverty reduction and economic growth in Pakistan. With the support of international organizations like ADB, BISP is poised to make a meaningful impact on the lives of its beneficiaries.
