Chengdu International Railway Port Emerges as Global Trade and Diplomacy Hub

CHENGDU: The Chengdu International Railway Port has become a crucial node in global trade and diplomacy, serving as the starting point for the China Railway Express and spanning an area of 31.7 square kilometers in the Qingbaijiang District of Chengdu.

The port has been recognized as a free trade zone, national economic and technological development zone, comprehensive bonded zone, and national logistics hub. A recent visit by a delegation of international media organizations from various countries, including Pakistan, Iraq, Nepal, Turkey, Nigeria, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Malaysia, and Sweden, highlighted the port’s strategic importance in global trade and its role in fostering international cooperation.

The port is home to Sichuan’s only railway freight-oriented national port, open to international trade and designated for the supervision of whole vehicles, meat, and grain imports. Key functional projects, such as the container sharing center, multimodal transportation center, and international container functional zone at the Chengxiang Station, have been completed and are operational.

The Chengdu International Railway Port has established an extensive international railway passage and rail-sea intermodal channel, connecting Chengdu to over 110 cities worldwide, including Europe, Mongolia, Russia, Japan, South Korea, and ASEAN countries.

With a focus on international supply chain, international trade, and intelligent manufacturing, the port has attracted nearly 200 major projects worth over RMB 100 billion, with prominent companies like SF Express, Yuhu (Hong Kong), Hema Fresh, and TCL establishing operations there.

The port boasts the largest volume, most extensive regional cooperation, and most stable transportation within the China Railway Express network, solidifying its role as a core area for the international supply chain economy under the Belt and Road Initiative.

The Chengdu-Eurasia National (Commodity) Pavilion, located in the core area of the port, is a significant platform for Eurasian trade and economic exchanges, hosting 34 national pavilions and showcasing the cultural and economic characteristics of various regions.
