China and Pakistan Join Forces to Unlock Geo-Sciences and Mining Potential
In a significant move to strengthen their cooperation in geo-sciences and mining, China and Pakistan are set to embark on a research project to explore geochemical anomalies identified in previous surveys in Pakistan. This collaboration aims to unlock the full potential of these anomalies, both academically and economically.
Dr. Sajjad Ahmed, Director General of the Geological Survey of Pakistan, made this announcement at the International Conference of Cooperation between Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Countries in Geosciences and Mining Investments. The conference marked the 10th anniversary of the China-SCO Geosciences Cooperation Research Center, which has achieved significant milestones in advancing earth sciences, promoting cooperation, and sustainable exploration of mineral resources.
The China-Pakistan friendship has been a cornerstone of their cooperation efforts in this field, with both countries agreeing to strengthen long-term planning for mining cooperation, promote joint geology and minerals research, and conduct geological surveys. Chinese companies are also encouraged to invest in Pakistan’s mining industry, and strengthen planning for mining industrial parks.
In recent years, the two nations have jointly conducted geologic mapping, comparative studies on metallogenic regularity, and geochemical surveys, paving the way for a deeper and more fruitful collaboration. This partnership is poised to unlock the vast potential of geo-sciences and mining, driving economic growth and sustainable development in both countries.
