Commissioner Directs Relocation of Van Stand and Ensures E-Tendering in Development Schemes
Efforts to Enhance Transparency and Streamline Traffic Flow in Rawalpindi
Rawalpindi : Commissioner Rawalpindi Division Engineer Aamir Khattak directed Secretary RTA to shift the van stand at Khechri Chowk to an alternate location as it is the biggest source of traffic disruption. This stand could be move a little further or backward from chowk as it will help traffic flow. He directed that there should not be any illegal stand anywhere in the city. Commissioner Rawalpindi further said that e-tendering process is being introduced for development schemes through which transparency and merit will be ensured. He directed that e-tendering should be 100% ensured in all development projects and a video record should be made of every e-tendering process. The effectiveness of development schemes lies in their timely completion and sustainability based on awarding tenders on merit.
He expressed these views while presiding over the Divisional Coordination Committee meeting held at the Commissioner’s Office Rawalpindi. Additional Commissioner Coordination Syed Nazarat Ali, Director Local Government Sibtain Kazmi, Director General PHA Ahmed Hasan Ranjha and other concerned officers attended meeting in person whereas Deputy Commissioner Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Murree participated through video link.
Commissioner Rawalpindi directed the Deputy Commissioners to hold urgent meetings of District Intelligence Committee and Peace Committee in their respective districts. All stakeholders should be taken on board to ensure that no miscreant will be allowed to disturb the peace of their district. He further said that delivery of services to the public can be made affective if monitoring mechanism can be strengthened. For said purpose, all the officers should immediately log on to the online app. He said that the online app will be used to track the public applications given in the government offices and also we will be able to check the performance of our subordinate offices.
