Promoting Inclusivity for All: NUML and NCRC Commemorate National Minorities Day 2024

The National Commission on the Rights of Child (NCRC) and the National University of Modern Languages (NUML) jointly organized an event to commemorate National Minorities Day 2024. The occasion aimed to promote inclusivity for religious minorities in Pakistan’s education system, bringing together key stakeholders for dialogue and awareness.

Ms. Maham Afridi, Programme Officer at NCRC, inaugurated the event by highlighting the significance of National Minorities Day and Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s 1947 address advocating equal rights for all Pakistanis. Mr. Khalid Naeem, Member ICT at NCRC, welcomed the guests, setting the stage for a panel discussion moderated by Dr. Riaz Ahmed Saeed.

The panel featured insights from esteemed experts, including Prof. Dr. M. Akram, Mr. Pirbhu Lal Satyani, Prof. Dr. A. H. Nayar, Ms. Romana Bashir, and Prof. Dr. Alvi. Key topics included disparities in educational access for minority students and the need for legislative reforms to foster interfaith harmony.

The event underscored the importance of promoting inclusivity and equal opportunities for religious minorities in Pakistan’s education system.
