Empowering Women, Empowering Society: ‘Pathway to Equality’ Unveiled
In a groundbreaking initiative, the National Commission for Women (NCSW) has launched “Pathway to Equality,” a comprehensive training program aimed at championing gender equality, child rights, and women’s empowerment across Pakistan. This pioneering effort, inaugurated in Islamabad, brings together 72 focal persons from federal ministries and divisions, alongside a cohort of media fellows from diverse platforms.
In collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives, this program embodies a collaborative spirit, harnessing the expertise of NCSW and UNICEF. Through technical initiatives, it seeks to raise awareness about gender equality, child rights, and women’s empowerment, fortifying the capacity of media and ministry representatives to advocate for these vital causes.
As the program unfolds, starting from the last week of August, training sessions will be held in the federal capital and across Pakistan, ensuring a lasting impact through refreshers and reporting mechanisms. Chairperson NCSW, Nilufar Bakhtiar, envisions a future where women are empowered in all sectors of federal and provincial ministries, with media fellows playing a pivotal role in monitoring policy implementation.
Melissa Corkum, Officer-in-Charge Representative for UNICEF Pakistan, reiterated UNICEF’s unwavering commitment to supporting initiatives for women and children, emphasizing the transformative power of education and equal opportunities. “Pathway to Equality” marks a significant stride towards crafting a more inclusive and equitable society in Pakistan, with NCSW and UNICEF dedicated to positively impacting the lives of women and children nationwide.
