Ethiopian Ambassador Pledges Support for Islamabad’s Green Initiatives
ISLAMABAD: Ethiopian Ambassador H.E. Mr. Jemal Beker Abdula met with Chairman CDA Muhammad Ali Randhawa at the CDA headquarters on Thursday.
Chairman Randhawa briefed the Ambassador on various ongoing initiatives and projects aimed at beautifying and transforming Islamabad into a modern and green city.
Ambassador Abdula expressed his enthusiasm to participate in the Margalla Hill plantation drive and praised the efforts to engage the diplomatic community in the campaign. He assured full support from the Ethiopian Embassy for the green initiative.
The Ambassador shared details of the Green Corridor Project in Addis Ababa, undertaken by the Ethiopian Government, and suggested implementing a similar project along Islamabad’s water channels and streams. He offered to share the project’s concept as a best practice.
Additionally, the Ambassador proposed signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to declare Addis Ababa and Islamabad as sister cities. Chairman Randhawa offered a designated area at the foot of Margalla Hills for the Ethiopian Embassy to conduct tree plantation.
Chairman Randhawa agreed to study the Green Corridor project in detail, with the aim of replicating it along Islamabad’s water channels and natural streams.
