Ex-ISI chief Faiz Hameed under military custody, court martial starts
Rawalpindi: “A former head of Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) agency, Lt-Gen (retd) Faiz Hameed, has been detained by military authorities and faces court martial proceedings. The charges against him include corruption, misuse of authority, and violating the Pakistan Army Act, dating back to 2017. A detailed court of inquiry was conducted by the Pakistan Army, and disciplinary action has been initiated. The process of Field General Court Martial has begun, and Lt Gen Faiz Hameed (Retd) is in military custody.
The charges against Gen Faiz are related to a 2017 incident involving the Top City case, in which he allegedly misused his authority and ISI officials seized valuables from a private citizen’s house. The Supreme Court had ordered an inquiry into the matter, leading to the current court martial proceedings.
Gen Faiz served as DG C in the ISI and later as director general of the agency. He has been associated with several controversies, including the Faizabad dharna case. His arrest and court martial may have implications for former Prime Minister Imran Khan, who was close to Gen Faiz.”
