Govt decides to call APC to discuss plan of operation for peace, prosperity of Pakistan: Asif
In a bid to bolster national harmony and tackle the pressing issue of terrorism, the government has decided to convene an All Parties Conference (APC) to discuss the comprehensive plan of operation “Azm-e-Istekham”. This move aims to bring together political forces to collectively strive for peace and prosperity in Pakistan.
Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif extended an olive branch to opposition parties, urging them to engage in constructive dialogue to address the nation’s pressing concerns, including terrorism. He emphasized the importance of collective efforts in achieving progress and acknowledged the sacrifices of the armed forces in the fight against terrorism.
Asif expressed optimism that the operation Azm-e-Istekham would receive widespread support from the nation and political parties, including the opposition, in its quest to eradicate terrorism. However, he lamented that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) had declined the government’s offer for dialogue to resolve political issues.
In a notable remark, Asif highlighted the contradictory stance of PTI’s founder, who had previously endorsed phone call tapping for security reasons but now criticizes the practice. The government’s call for unity and cooperation marks a significant step towards a peaceful and prosperous Pakistan.
