JUI-F chief Fazlur Rehman sticks to stance on constitutional amendment bill
SLAMABAD :Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman on Wednesday categorically rejected the bill draft for the constitutional amendment, asserting that it would be an utter dishonesty with the nation to support it.
Speaking to media after the lunch hosted by former speaker and PTI leader Asad Qaiser, the JUI-F chief said ‘they’ denied the ownership of the draft. He questioned the draft that was delivered earlier and said it was nothing short of a joke.
He made it clear that the bill draft was not acceptable at any cost.
The JUI-F head refused to respond to a question on the alleged talk of the PTI founder in the Adiala Jail.
Former president Dr Arif Alvi, PTI spokesperson Raoof Hasan and others also attended the lunch reception.
Earlier, in July, Asad Qaiser and Maulana Fazlur Rehman discussed the overall political situation.
They also discussed the Supreme Court’s judgement allocating reserved seats to the PTI. Fazlur Rehman said his party accepted the Supreme Court’s ruling regarding reserved seats and expressed his goodwill towards the PTI.
The JUI-F chief said the decision would help foster a positive environment for negotiations to address concerns and would be beneficial in improving mutual relations between both parties.
Asad Qaiser said back then that the decision would establish the supremacy of the constitution and democracy in the country.
