Kaghan’s monsoon majesty: Tourists revel in scenic splendor amid horse-riding, boating around Saiful Malook lake
KAGHAN : The enchanting monsoon season in Kaghan Valley has drawn a large number of tourists to the area, who are enjoying free boating and horse-riding around the picturesque Saiful Malook lake.
The valley’s landscape is alive with seasonal flowers, towering chirpine trees, and the soothing sounds of chirping birds, creating a serene escape for visitors. The influx of tourists has brought economic benefits to the local community, with horse riders and boat owners earning significant income.
Fayaz Khan, a tourist from Nowshera, said he visited Kaghan with his family to experience the valley’s stunning natural beauty before the summer season ends. Ali Abbasi, a horse rider, expressed joy at earning maximum capital during the monsoon season, while Usman Gujar, a boat owner, was thrilled with the increased demand for his services.
Saiful Malook lake, known for its fairy-tale allure and Persian Prince Saiful Malook, is a major attraction in the valley. The lake is immortalized in Sufi poet Mian Muhammad Bakhsh’s epic and attracts both international and local tourists.
Dr. Naeem Khan, former Chairman of the Economics Department at the University of Peshawar, emphasized the importance of promoting tourism in Pakistan’s northern areas, particularly Hazara and Malakand divisions. He suggested embracing digital innovations and developing attractions like chairlifts to generate revenue and enhance the socio-economic conditions of the local population.
Asif Ali, a photographer, expressed delight at the increased influx of tourists, while KP Wildlife Department is working to ensure sustainable protection and improved tourist facilities at Saiful Malook and Lulusar lakes. Tasfeen Haider, Director General of the KP Culture and Tourism Authority, announced plans to establish a chairlift facility for tourists between Naran and Saiful Malook lake.
