LHC summons FIA DG in Azma Bokhari fake video case

LAHORE:The Lahore High Court (LHC) has summoned the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) DG in personal capacity on Monday in the case of provincial minister and PML-N leader Azma Bokhari fake video case.

LHC Chief Justice Aalia Neelum heard the Azma Bokhari application against fake videos on social media.

During the hearing, Deputy Attorney General Asad Bajwa submitted the FIA report and the court raised objections to it. CJ Aalia Neelum remarked that this report depicted that their people were ineligible for the seats.

Federal government lawyer informed the court that the accused Haider Ali’s cell phone had been sent for forensic. FIA counsel stated that suspect Haider Ali had been arrested by Matta police station.

LHC CJ remarked that “you are seeking transitory remand but accused Haider Ali is not arrested by you. Transitory remand is sought when the accused is in your custody.”

Court asked how they could sought transitory remand when accused was in Matta police station custody.

Federal government counsel responded that accused Haider Ali had been granted interim-bail from Lahore’s session court, Matta SHO informed when the accused was being arrested.

CJ Aalia Neelum stated, “You guys are so innocent that the police says the accused is on bail and you accept the facts. You can only show your power there but arrest whoever you want in Punjab.”

Federal government counsel stated that KP police wasn’t cooperating with them.

The LHC CJ expressed concern over the judicial magistrate granting bail to the accused in this case. She raised questions on how police could get judicial by presenting the accused when he was booked in FIA’s FIR and not arrested by FIA.

CJ directed FIA officials that their head must appear in the next hearing with a detailed report as this compromised system wouldn’t work.

The court directed Falak Javed’s father to file a separate application and mention his reservations.

Consequently, the LHC adjourned the case hearing until September 23 and summoned FIA DG in personal capacity on Monday.

FAKE VIDEO CASE

FIA Cyber Wing registered the case against six accused including Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) worker Falak Javed in a fake video scandal of Punjab Information Minister Azma Bokhari.

The FIR filed by FIA Cyber Wing Lahore mentioned that Falak Javed already disseminated the news about fake videos.

Falak Javed, Hassan Toor, Shahabuddin, Asma Tabbasum, and Muhammad Shafiq have been accused in the case.

FIA has also included the more than 20 users on social media platform, X in the case for uploading and sharing the videos.

Around 10 accounts on Facebook and TikTok have also been included in the FIR.

FIA Cyber Wing has arrested the accused, Muhammad Shafiq from Gujarat in the case .

The initial investigation revealed that the accused Shafiq had been in contact with PTI information secretary Raoof Hassan from the Islamabad office.
