Rawalpindi: In a recent development, Maj Gen Amer Ashfaq Kayani, Additional Secretary-I, Ministry of Defence, has assumed the role of Acting Secretary Defence. This move comes after Lt Gen (Retd) Hamood uz Zaman Khan relinquished the charge of Secretary Defence on August 23, 2024, following the successful completion of his tenure.
According to a notification, Maj Gen Kayani will hold the position until the appointment of a regular incumbent. The change in leadership is expected to ensure a smooth transition and continuity in the Ministry of Defence’s operations.
Maj Gen Kayani brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having served in various key positions within the defence ministry. His appointment as Acting Secretary Defence is seen as a strategic move to maintain stability and leadership in the ministry.
