Overseas Pakistanis Lose Confidence in National Institutions
Former Pakistan Press Club UK President Shiraz Khan Reports Frustration Among Civilian and Military Leadership
Peace be upon you.
I am currently in the United States, and during my time here, I’ve observed through meetings with Pakistanis that there is widespread dissatisfaction and disappointment among Pakistanis, including our civilian and military leadership as well as the mainstream media, regarding the way national affairs have been managed in recent years.
There is a tone of bitterness and intense frustration among them. I am reporting with full responsibility that this sentiment is shared by a majority of overseas Pakistanis as well, which does not bode well for the country. When the public loses confidence in a nation or its state institutions, it causes harm.
Overseas Pakistanis are ambassadors and assets of Pakistan abroad, and restoring their trust is essential.
It also became apparent for the first time during the recent American elections that Pakistanis actively participated, making their presence felt much like the Indian community here.
Regards,
Shiraz Khan, Former President, Pakistan Press Club UK
