Pakistan’s Defence Committee Approves Amendments to Cannabis Bill

Unanimous recommendation paves way for regulation of medical and industrial cannabis use

The Standing Committee on Defence in Pakistan has unanimously recommended amendments to “The Cannabis Control and Regulatory Authority Bill, 2024” before its passage in the National Assembly. The bill aims to regulate the cultivation, extraction, and sale of cannabis derivatives for medical and industrial use, in line with Pakistan’s obligations under the Single Convention on Narcotics Drugs, 1961. The committee’s proposed amendments will be considered by the National Assembly before the bill is passed.
