Pakistan’s Finance Committee Expresses Concern Over BISP Disbursements and Corruption
Standing Committee on Finance and Revenue seeks direct access for beneficiaries and secure disbursements in Benazir Income Support Program
Islamabad: The Standing Committee on Finance and Revenue held its 5th meeting today at the Parliament House, Islamabad, under the chairmanship of Hon. Syed Naveed Qamar, MNA. The committee expressed significant concern over the disbursement process, surveys, and corruption in the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP). The BISP’s annual budget for 2024-25 has increased by 27% to 598.718 billion.
The committee directed the Governor of the State Bank of Pakistan to assist BISP in secure disbursements and biometric verification of beneficiaries. The meeting was attended by various MNAs, the State Minister for Finance, and senior officials from relevant departments.
