Pakistan’s Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs Reviews Diplomatic Landscape

Islamabad:  The Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs of the National Assembly of Pakistan convened a crucial meeting to evaluate the current state of diplomatic relations with key global partners. Chairperson Ms. Hina Rabbani Khar emphasized the committee’s role as an effective parliamentary oversight tool and its importance in advising the government on policy matters.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) provided briefings on Pakistan’s diplomatic engagements with the United States, China, and neighboring countries such as India, Afghanistan, and Iran. The committee reviewed recent diplomatic exchanges, trade relations, and strategic dialogues, with MoFA officials highlighting both achievements and challenges. Members underscored the importance of streamlined processes, improved public facilitation, and enhanced visibility of Pakistan’s diplomatic activities to ensure effective and efficient foreign relations.
Following a detailed briefing on Apostille services by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Apostille Bill 2024 was thoroughly discussed and unanimously passed by the committee.
The session was attended by esteemed members including Mr. Muhammad Atif, Ms. Shandana Gulzar Khan, Mr. Danyal Chaudhary, Mr. Khurram Munawar Manj, Mr. Muhammad Khan Daha, Makhdoom Zain Hussain Qureshi, Ms. Ayesha Nazir, Mr. Muhammad Ijaz Ul Haq, Syed Mustafa Mehmood, Mir Amer Ali Khan Magsi, Dr. Muhammad Farooq Sattar, Ms. Shaista Pervaiz, Ms. Nuzhat Sadiq, and Ms. Farah Naz Akbar. Foreign Secretary Mr. M. Syrus Sajjad Qazi and senior officials from MOFA also participated.
