Peshawar Police Lines blast: Main suspect reveals his ties with terrorists
PESHAWAR:The central suspect in the Peshawar Police Lines suicide bombing, a police havildar, has revealed the story behind his association with terrorists.
During interrogation, the arrested suspect, police havildar Abdul Wali, disclosed that he was influenced by posts of a banned militant group on social media.
The suspect told the investigative team that he had made contact with the banned group through Facebook Messenger. After this communication, he was invited to visit Afghanistan.
According to sources in the investigative team, the police official traveled to Afghanistan, where he met with Taliban commanders.
Following these meetings with extremist leaders, the suspect carried out a targeted killing of a Christian priest, William, in Peshawar.
The suspect further revealed that during his visit to Afghanistan, he was assigned the task of carrying out the Police Lines bombing.
Three days before the attack, he guided the suicide bomber on all the routes to the target location.
The investigative team also reported that on the day of the attack, the police havildar took leave.
The arrested suspect expressed deep remorse during the investigation and apologised for his actions.
