Polio Eradication Campaign in Full Swing in Punjab

Lahore: The anti-polio drive is continuing in Lahore and Rawalpindi, while it has concluded in the remaining three districts of Bahawalpur, Lodhran, and Muzaffargarh. According to the four-day progress report, over 32 lakh children have been administered polio drops. In Lahore, over 14 lakh children have been vaccinated, while in Rawalpindi, over 5 lakh children have received the vaccine. In Bahawalpur, over 7 lakh children, in Lodhran, over 1 lakh 63 thousand children, and in Muzaffargarh, over 3 lakh children have been vaccinated.

The campaign, which aimed to vaccinate over 44 lakh children in five districts, has seen the participation of over 32 thousand polio workers. In Lahore, over 14 thousand polio workers are part of the campaign, while in Rawalpindi, over 7 thousand workers are participating. The campaign will continue in both districts until Sunday, while it has concluded in the other three districts.

On the fifth day of the campaign, Punjab Anti-Polio Program Chief Khizar Afzal directed the districts to ensure that polio teams revisit every house to administer the vaccine to any missed children. He emphasized that every child must be vaccinated to prevent polio. He warned that if migrant populations and travelers are not vaccinated, polio could spread in Punjab. He praised the polio workers for their hard work and dedication, saying that their efforts are crucial in eradicating polio. He urged parents to cooperate with polio workers and get their children vaccinated, stressing that the more doses a child receives, the stronger their immunity will be.
