President, PM pay tribute to Aziz Bhatti Shaheed for his gallantry, sacrifice
Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday paid tribute to Major Raja Aziz Bhatti Shaheed (Nishan-i-Haider) lauding his gallantry and sacrifice while safeguarding the country during the 1965 India-Pakistan war.
In their separately issued statements on the 59th martyrdom anniversary of Aziz Bhatti Shaheed, both the president and prime minister said that the whole nation saluted the great soldier for his matchless sacrifice and valor.
The president said that Aziz Bhatti fulfilled his responsibilities of defending the country bravely fighting the enemy in the 1965 India-Pakistan war.
“The entire nation pays homage to its hero for sacrificing his life to protect the motherland. His eternal sacrifice is a bright example for us. We renew our pledge that we will be ready to make every possible sacrifice for our country,” President Zardari stated.
In his statement, Prime Minister Shehbaz said, “Aziz Bhatti thwarted the enemy’s evil designs with his bravery in the September 1965 war. His unshakable determination to defend his homeland forced the enemy to retreat, who otherwise had dreamed of capturing Lahore.
He said that Aziz Bhatti Shaheed stood firm against the enemy, undaunted by their numerical superiority.
“His great sacrifice for the country’s defense will be honored and kept alive forever in the history of Pakistan. His passion and dutifulness to fight the enemy without caring about his own life is an ideal example for the generations to come,” the prime minister said.
He said that the whole nation paid tribute to Aziz Bhatti Shaheed and other soldiers for sacrificing their lives to defend the country, which they would never forget.
