PTV clinch President’s Trophy Grade One title in thrilling final
RAWALPINDI :Pakistan Television Network (PTV) secured the President’s Trophy Grade One cricket tournament title, defeating State Bank by three wickets in a nail-biting final.
In the pink-ball night final at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, PTV successfully chased a target of 153 runs, losing seven wickets in the process.
Shamyl Hussain, who was unbeaten on 44 the previous day, scored a crucial 58 runs with seven boundaries. He had an impressive tournament, amassing a double century, a century, and two half-centuries, finishing as the second-highest run-scorer after WAPDA’s Ayaz Tasawar. PTV’s Muhammad Shehzad and Waqar Hussain secured third and fourth spots, respectively, among the top scorers.
Despite a shaky chase at 137/7, captain Amad Butt played a responsible knock of 17* runs, including two boundaries, to guide his team to victory. This marked his second tournament win as captain, having previously led Sialkot to the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy title.
For State Bank, Kashif Bhatti claimed four wickets, while Mohammad Abbas took two. Wicketkeeper Ghazi Ghouri contributed with three catches and a stumping, making him the second-most successful keeper of the tournament after KRL’s Saad Baig.
PTV was awarded a cash prize of PKR 5 million for their victory, while runners-up State Bank received PKR 2.5 million.
