Punjab Prepares for Eid Milad-ul-Nabi: Cabinet Committee Reviews Security Arrangements

Rawalpindi: Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique presided over the meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Law and Order and made a detailed review of the arrangements in North Punjab in wake of Eid Milad-ul-Nabi (SAWW). Finance Minister Mian Mujtaba Shuja ur Rehman, Sports Minister Faisal Ayub Khokhar, Special Assistant Zeeshan Malik, MPAs and MNAs from Rawalpindi Division also participated in the meeting held at commissioner office Rawalpindi here on Friday. Secretary Home Punjab Noor Ul Amin Mengal and IG Punjab Dr Usman Anwar gave a detailed briefing on law and order situation and Government initiatives for peace in the region. Speaking on this occasion, Chairman Cabinet Committee and Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique said that the birth of the Prophet (PBUH) will be celebrated with full devotion and respect. He said that the arrangements were completed with the consultation of peace committees across the province and no new innovation will be allowed for the peaceful conduct of Eid Milad-ul-Nabi SAWW. He further said that the best security arrangements have been made for the routes of all the main processions and for the celebrations of Milad events. On the special instructions of the Chief Minister of Punjab, drinks and sweets will be served across Punjab, he added. Welcoming the suggestions given by the members of the provincial assembly for the establishment of law and order at the local level, Finance Minister Mujtaba Shuja ur Rahman said that the public representatives should play their active role to maintain a peaceful atmosphere in the region along with the administration. Provincial Sports Minister Faisal Ayub Khokhar said that the role of scholars is the most important for ensuring religious harmony. He said that scholars should be kept on board during all the arrangements so that they spread the message of peace and tolerance in their followers. Special Assistant Zeeshan Malik said that it is the social and religious duty of every Muslim to celebrate Eid Milad-ul-Nabi with religious decorum and to take necessary steps for ensuring peace and harmony by publicizing the teachings of the Holy Prophet (PBUH). Commissioner Rawalpindi Engineer Aamir Khattak, RPO Babar Sarfraz Alpa and CPO Syed Khalid Hamdani gave a briefing about all the arrangements being made regarding 12 Rabi ul Awwal. Commissioner Rawalpindi said that the Peace Committees are fully functional and coordination with scholars of all schools of thoughts have been done. A special control room has been set up and is operational regarding the 12th Rabi-ul-Awwal. CCTV cameras have been installed and physical surveillance will also be ensured. Ambulances and volunteers from Rescue 1122 will accompany the procession. Sanitation arrangements and water supply will also be ensured on the procession routes by WASA and RWMC. All DCs and DPOs from Rawalpindi Division also participated in the meeting.
