Lahore : Afzal Khan, popularly known as Rambo, a veteran Pakistani film star, has voiced his disappointment and frustration over not receiving any government-recognized awards during his 32-year tenure in the entertainment industry.

In a recent television appearance, Rambo shared his thoughts on the current state of award shows in Pakistan. He noted that the proliferation of award shows, with each TV channel hosting its own, has diluted the significance of these honors. He advocated for a single, unified award show that recognizes excellence across the entire Pakistani entertainment industry.

Despite receiving awards like the Nigar Award in the past, Rambo expressed his desire to receive the prestigious Pride of Performance award, which has eluded him despite his extensive contributions to the industry, including over 200 films.

Rambo emphasized that he values merit-based recognition and does not seek awards obtained through favoritism or nepotism. He made a heartfelt appeal to award organizers to not consider him for awards based solely on this interview, reiterating his desire for genuine recognition.

Rambo’s sentiments highlight the need for a more streamlined and merit-based award system in Pakistan’s entertainment industry.
