Lahore: Former Pakistan captain and wicket-keeper batsman Sarfaraz Ahmed has joined the Dolphins team as a mentor-cum-player for the Champions One Day Cup 2024. He expressed his commitment to contributing to the development of players and coaching staff, bridging the gap between domestic and international cricket.

Sarfaraz, who will also play in the tournament, said, “I’m excited to support and assist the captain, players, and coaching staff to enhance their skills and become better players.” He recalled his past experiences with a team named Dolphins and expressed eagerness to make a meaningful contribution to the current side.

The Champions One-Day Cup, starting on September 12 at Iqbal Stadium, Faisalabad, will feature 150 of the country’s best cricketers in a 50-over tournament. Sarfaraz, who has led Pakistan to victories in the ICC U19 World Cup 2006 and ICC Champions Trophy 2017, is confident that the tournament will exceed expectations.

With Sarfaraz’s joining, the process of appointing mentors for the five teams is complete, including Waqar Younis (Lions), Shoaib Malik (Stallions), Misbah ul Haq (Wolves), and Saqlain Mushtaq (Panthers). The Dolphins will be based at the Hanif Mohammad High Performance Centre in Karachi.
