Shaheen Afridi Breaks Silence Amidst Swirling Controversy
Pakistan’s cricket sensation, Shaheen Shah Afridi, has recently posted a cryptic message on social media, putting an end to the rumors surrounding his alleged altercation with coaches during the team’s tour to Ireland and England. The ace pacer took to X (formerly Twitter) to share a video of himself in action on the nets, captioning it “Rise Above” with an eagle emoji.
The shared video showcases Afridi bowling to former Pakistan captain Misbah-Ul-Haq, as the latter prepares for the Pakistan Champions’ semi-final clash against West Indies Champions in the ongoing World Championship of Legends. This post comes on the heels of reports suggesting a heated argument between Afridi and batting coach Mohammad Yousuf during the team’s net practice at Headingley.
As per sources, the dispute arose when Afridi was cautioned by the coach about his continuous no-balls in the nets. The situation escalated, with Afridi expressing his frustration and telling the coach not to intervene in his bowling practice. However, the pacer later apologized to Mohammad Yousuf, and the team management also reprimanded him for his misconduct.
Following Pakistan’s early exit from the T20 World Cup 2024, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) took drastic measures, removing Wahab Riaz as senior team manager and member of the selection committee. Additionally, Abdul Razzaq was sacked from the PCB selection committee.
