National Assembly of Pakistan Launches Youth Citizen Internship Programme 2024
Islamabad, – In a bid to foster a deeper understanding of parliamentary procedures and norms among the youth, the National Assembly of Pakistan has inaugurated the Youth Citizen Internship Programme 2024. The programme aims to equip young citizens with the knowledge and skills necessary to contribute to the growth of democracy in the country.
Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq Emphasizes Importance of Youth Engagement
During the orientation session, Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq highlighted the significance of acquainting youth with parliamentary procedures and norms. He urged the youth to play a constructive role in nation-building, rather than indulging in propaganda and political polarization. Sadiq also emphasized the importance of respecting social, political, and religious pluralities.
A First for Pakistan Parliament
The Speaker proudly announced that the Pakistan Parliament is the first regional parliament to transform itself into a Green Parliament through solarization. He encouraged the youth to follow in the footsteps of individuals like Mr. Zumrud Khan, who has made significant contributions to social services.
Programme Objectives
The Youth Citizen Internship Programme 2024 aims to connect youth with the parliament, impart basic principles of democracy, and equip them with parliamentary etiquettes and processes. The programme will feature hands-on activities, workshops, and sessions on democratic norms, principles, and processes.

The orientation session was graced by distinguished guests, including MNA Dr. Nikhat Shakeel Khan, who highlighted the importance of connecting youth with the parliament. Mr. Raza Hussain Qazi, Director Advocacy, Campaign, Communications & Media – Save the Children, also addressed the gathering, outlining the goals and objectives of the programme.
