In a bid to fortify user privacy and security, Meta-owned WhatsApp has unveiled a groundbreaking feature – “context cards” – to safeguard group chats from unwarranted invites and online scams. This innovative addition empowers users to make informed decisions about joining groups, ensuring a safer and more controlled messaging experience.

When receiving a group invite from an unknown user, a context card will appear, providing valuable insights into the group’s creation date, purpose, and creator details. This crucial information enables users to accept or decline invitations with confidence, shielding them from potential scams.

Moreover, users can report, block, or leave suspicious groups promptly, ensuring enhanced protection. WhatsApp CEO Will Cathcart announced the feature on his channel, confirming its global rollout, which will reach all users in the coming weeks.

This development marks a significant stride in WhatsApp’s commitment to user safety and security, further solidifying its position as a leader in the instant messaging landscape.
