Punjab’s Freedom Float Nears Completion

RAWALPINDI: The Punjab government’s freedom float is in the final stages of completion at the Rawalpindi Arts Council and on August 10, the float will depart from Rawalpindi and after covering a distance of 300 kilometers and stopping at four cities, it will reach Minar Pakistan Lahore on August 14.
Director Rawalpindi Arts Council Sajjad Hussain said this while giving a briefing about the float. Former Director Rawalpindi Arts Council Waqar Ahmed and Designer Azeem Iqbal were also present on this occasion. The float is in its final stages of completion and the Rawalpindi Arts Council team is working day and night on it.
Sajjad Hussain said that the whole of Pakistan have been given representation in the float and apart from Minar Pakistan, the models of Quaid-e-Azam’s residence in Balochistan, Khyber Pass in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Quaid’s masoleum in Sindh, Legislative Assembly of Azad Kashmir and Bomburit Masjid in Gilgit-Baltistan have been prepared .
Sajjad Hussain said the float is 60 feet long and driven by the truck, and it has 20 feet high model of minar e Pakistan and other models are 16 feet high or less. He said that the float will start from Rawalpindi on August 10 and after roaming around Rawalpindi city for the whole night, it will reach Gujar Khan on August 11 morning and will go to Jhelum on August 11. He said that after stopping at Jhelum for one night, the float will reach Gujrat on August 12 and Gujranwala on August 13. He said that on August 14, this float will arrive in Lahore at the minar e Pakistan, where a ceremony will be held under the chairmanship of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, in which traditional dances of all provinces will be performed in addition to national songs.
Sajjad Hussain said that colorful programs will be presented in the cities where the float will stop, in which people from all walks of life will participate in large numbers.
Former Director Rawalpindi Arts Council Waqar Ahmed said that even on the occasion of March 23 parade, Rawalpindi Arts Council prepares the float of Punjab, which takes 30 to 45 days, but this float is being prepared in a short period of 10 days. Artist Azim Iqbal said that the float is made of material which is waterproof and will maintain its condition in all weather conditions and will arrive in Lahore on August 14 with full weather.
