RDA seals 18 private educational institutions
Rawalpindi: In a bold move to enforce regulations, the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has sealed 18 private educational institutions in various areas of the city for non-payment of commercial status fees. The operation, carried out on the directives of RDA Director General Kinza Murtaza, targeted schools operating illegally in Eidgah Scheme, Asghar Mall Scheme, and other areas.
The RDA Enforcement Squad, comprising Assistant Directors, Building Inspectors, and other officials, took action against the schools, including Thenatic Moutessri School, Minar Public School, and Allied School, among others. The institutions had been violating approved building plans and operating without No Objection Certificates.
Notices had been issued to the property owners, including Muhammad Shoaib, Mazhar Anees, and Ishtiaq Ahmed, among others, for constructing illegal commercial buildings and violating the Punjab Development of Cities Act 1976 and RDA Building and Zoning Regulations 2020.
The RDA spokesperson emphasized that the DG had directed the authorities to take strict action against encroachments, illegal constructions, and commercial activities without discrimination. A survey is also being conducted to identify illegal residential and commercial buildings in the area.
This crackdown on rogue schools sends a strong message that regulatory bodies will not tolerate illegal activities, ensuring a safer and more compliant environment for education.
