CRICKET FRATERNITY RALLIES AROUND NAFEES IQBAL AS HE BATTLES BRAIN HEMORRHAGE

In a heart-stopping turn of events, former Bangladesh batsman Nafees Iqbal has been hospitalized in Dhaka after suffering a brain hemorrhage in Chattogram on Friday. The 39-year-old, a veteran of 11 Tests and 16 ODIs, was airlifted to Dhaka and is currently under close observation in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).

Nafees, elder brother of Tamim Iqbal and nephew of Akram Khan, had been complaining of headaches for several days before the incident. His condition has been diagnosed as cerebral venous thrombosis, a condition where blood clots form in the brain.

Debashis Chowdhury, BCB’s chief physician, has assured that Nafees is out of danger, but will require several weeks to recover fully. “He is stable, and his parameters are good. He will be here for a few more days, and if everything goes well, he will make a full recovery,” Chowdhury said.

The cricket fraternity has rallied around Nafees, with BCB director Jalal Yunus, chief executive Nizamuddin Chowdhury, and players like Mahmudullah, Mushfiqur Rahim, and Mashrafe Mortaza visiting him in the hospital.

Nafees has been an integral part of Bangladesh cricket, serving as the team manager for the past two years. His cricketing career spans over a decade, with 120 first-class matches for Chattogram.

The nation holds its breath as Nafees fights this battle. We wish him a speedy recovery and hope to see him back on his feet soon.
