Justice Reigns: Committee Unanimously Backs Civil Courts Bill
In a landmark meeting, the Standing Committee on Law and Justice, chaired by Ch. Mahmood Bashir Virk, convened at the Parliament House, Islamabad. The session began with a recitation from the Holy Quran, setting the tone for a productive discussion.
The committee was briefed on the Ministry of Law & Justice’s workings, but due to time constraints, the briefing was deferred. The spotlight then shifted to the Civil Courts (Amendment) Bill, 2024, which received unanimous approval from the committee after thorough deliberations.
Other bills, including the Legal Aid and Justice Authority (Amendment) Bill, 2024, and the Constitution (Amendment) Bill, 2024, were also considered. However, after detailed discussions, the committee decided to defer these bills for further examination.
The meeting was attended by esteemed MNAs, the Minister for Law and Justice, and senior officials, all united in their quest for justice and legal reform. The committee’s unanimous backing of the Civil Courts Bill marks a significant step towards strengthening the country’s judicial framework.
