Lahore police arrested 3,148 gamblers this year

LAHORE :This year, a crackdown on gamblers has led to the registration of 729 cases and arrest of 3,148 culprits.
This was stated by the Lahore police spokesperson on Saturday. He added that more than 12.8 million rupees have been recovered from the arrested individuals. During action against the beggar mafia, 2,184 cases have been filed and 2,222 people arrested, including 2,156 men, 63 women, and 3 facilitators, he added.
Capital City Police Officer Lahore Bilal Siddique Kamyana emphasized the implementation of a zero-tolerance policy against criminal elements to make the provincial capital a crime-free zone. He underlined that efforts are underway to rid the city of gambling dens. He has instructed to accelerate actions against those involved in gambling and begging, particularly targeting handlers of beggars on signals and major roads. He also urged the citizens to play their active part in discouraging the beggar mafia.
